Launched in spring 2005 by Ali Hewson and Bono, “EDUN is a lifestyle fashion brand founded on the premise of trade for aid as a means to create jobs and alleviate poverty.” The brand aims to raise awareness of the possibilities in Africa and encourage the fashion community to do business there. In 2010, Spacesmith was retained to design their new 8,600 sf space to house their offices, showroom, design, production & marketing teams and storage space on the corner of Grand and Mercer Streets in Soho. The design intent was to keep the hard construction to a minimum while maintaining and allowing as much natural daylight to penetrate into the space and to embrace EDUN’s commitment to sustainable design.
